Eastern Redbud is prized for its vibrant, delicate flowers that welcome warmer weather in early spring, blooming on old wood before the leaves emerge. They always remain small and generally grow with a divided trunk close to the ground. Redbuds growing in the sun will be more compact than those growing in part shade. Garden Clubs of America, Montine McDaniel Freeman Horticulture Award, 2013.
