Hollow Joe Pye Weed is native to all but a couple of Virginia counties. Fuzzy, pink to purple fragrant panicles bloom from August until frost, and seedheads are attractive through winter. Pollinator magnet! Pearl Crescent butterfly larvae will feed on Joe Pye Weed. Small birds will feed on the seeds.
Seeds may be direct-sown in autumn or planted in flats that will receive 6-8 weeks of chilling; or seed may be stratified in the refrigerator and planted in flats or outside in spring.
