These marigolds have tall, strong stems with large yellow, chrysanthemum-like flowers, averaging three inches across. They are often recommended as companion plants for several vegetables.  Full sun. The flower is native to Mexico and Central America and is used in Day of the Dead observances. 
 
Direct sow soon after last frost 1/4 " deep.  Or start 4-6 weeks indoors beforehand and transplant after danger of frost has passed spacing 10-12" apart. Germinates in 7 to 20 days.
